The Death of Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 8, 2022. The UK entered a ten day period of national mourning, before Her Majesty was laid to rest at Windsor Castle.
The following images document my experience of covering this time, from the moment that the death was formally announced outside Buckingham Palace, through to her Committal Ceremony in St George's Chapel, Windsor on September 19th.
With this set of images, I won the BPPA (British Press Photographers’ Association) Press Photographer of the Year Awards 2022: Photo Essay, ‘Death of a Monarch’.
